Former Garden Grove Woman Avoids Seven-Year Sentence

By Michael Guisti on April 9, 2018

crime-handcuffs_412951If you’ve made a mistake and committed a crime, all is not lost. Humans make mistakes, and our California legal system has provisions that give a person a second chance. There may still be consequences, but they will probably be less severe if you have an experienced legal advocate on your side.

Take the case of a woman who formerly served as president of Garden Grove Little League.

The 45-year-old woman was arrested for embezzling over $47,000 from the nonprofit organization in 2014 and 2015, and charged with seven felony counts of grand theft. At the time, she was currently a resident of Arizona, and was brought back to Orange County, looking at a seven-year prison sentence for her crimes. Fortunately for her, she enlisted the representation of experienced Southern California criminal defense attorney Michael L. Guisti. He was able to work out a deal where the woman agreed to plead guilty, pay $29,000 in restitution, and only serve six months in jail. She is currently considering her options, which include serving her sentence in a private jail or home confinement.

This case is a prime example of how a skilled defense attorney can make the best out of a bad situation. While a six-month sentence isn’t a walk in the park, it is far less than seven years in county prison.

For nearly two decades, the Law Office of Michael L. Guisti has helped those charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes get the best outcomes possible. The firm has routinely managed to get charges reduced, and in many cases, dropped altogether. They have also gotten many clients probation instead of jail time, gotten those charged with drug crimes into treatment programs instead of jail, and gotten crimes expunged from their clients’ records.

The Law Office of Michael L. Guisti defends against all manner of criminal charges, including DUI, tax evasion, federal crimes, real estate fraud, robbery, and murder. Their goal is to get clients to a place where they are able to move on from a bad decision and turn their lives around.
